About the Country Director role

myAgro is expanding into a new country and seeks a dynamic, experienced leader who can establish operations in a new country, cultivate deep relationships with partners, and build a strong organization to drive myAgro’s growth and impact. myAgro’s programs will involve extensive collaboration with partner organizations serving smallholder farmers. This is a key leadership role at myAgro, reporting directly to the CEO. The Country Director will help set the strategic direction for the country and the organization overall. S/he will establish policies, procedures and programs that provide myAgro with a solid foundation from which to scale rapidly and with high impact.

The ideal candidate will have an outstanding track record of managing complex projects, developing innovative programs, and serving in an organizational leadership capacity during a period of rapid growth  and transition in an international development context. A highly entrepreneurial mindset and comfort “getting hands dirty” are requirements for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Program strategy & management
    • Develop program strategy, targets and milestones to achieve myAgro’s goals in the country and overall
    • Work closely with partner organizations to implement programs, continually assessing efficacy and adapting approaches as needed
    • Develop operational processes and systems to ensure efficient, effective program delivery
    • Manage team of local and international staff to deliver consistent, high-quality results
    • Develop annual operating plan for country
    • Prioritize and design R&D trials and manage related M&E to continually improve myAgro’s model and impact; Manage a small but effective R&D team to lead project based trials
  • Partnership management
    • Work closely with partners to develop best approaches to integrating myAgro’s systems with partner programs
    • Cultivate strong relationships with partners, building trust and respect
    • Be an advocate for myAgro while balancing partners’ needs and objectives
  • Financial management
    • Lead budgeting and operational planning to ensure program goals are met cost-effectively and efficiently
    • Manage country operations within budget
    • Collaborate with CFO to assess financial performance and adapt to changing conditions
    • Ensure compliance with national and local financial management standards and completion of annual local audits
  • Organizational and team leadership
    • Provide strong day-to-day leadership for the team
    • Support the professional development and retention of the team
    • Cultivate the values and culture of myAgro throughout the organization 

Required Experience:

  • English proficiency required
  • 7+ years of experience in a similar role, managing program operations in an international development context
  • Extensive management experience and demonstrated ability to build highly-effective teams and manage to aggressive KPIs
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting and planning
  • Graduate degree strongly preferred

This is a critical leadership position for myAgro’s future growth. Only the top 4% of candidates move through the full interview process, which takes 2-3 months including several interviews and may include a 1-week interview in West Africa to meet the team and farmers prior to selection.
