About Agriculture Associate role

The Agriculture Associate are a key member of myAgro’s team, focused on developing and managing our field programs and trials. You will utilise your agricultural knowledge and make appropriate recommendations to increase farmer ROI balanced with myAgro’s business model, the supply chain, the field team capability, and farmer behavior.  You are responsible for establishing and managing the local agriculture department, contributing to myAgro’s agricultural strategy, and collaborating on key seasonal activities.  This is an extremely collaborative role – agriculture is a “team sport” at myAgro. You will collaborate with the Regional Agriculture Manager, Global Agriculture Team, Field Operations, Logistics, M&E departments and myAgro Leadership team.

Local Team Management & Agricultural Strategy

  • Goal: Build and manage a high-performing team to achieve results, meet established deadlines, collaborate effectively with other teams, and demonstrate myAgro values.
  • Manage and invest in professional development of local agriculture team.  Conduct weekly 1:1 meetings and department team meetings focused on weekly goals and KPI.
  • Conduct performance reviews and on-boarding new team members. Ensure compliance with myAgro internal policies.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Agriculture Manager to identify staff needs (both at headquarters and seasonal hires). Coordinate with Global People Operations and local HR to recruit and hire.
  • As your career advances at myAgro, you will progressively have the opportunity to give feedback and input into myAgro’s agricultural strategy.  Successful contribution to myAgro’s agricultural strategy stems from a strong understanding of myAgro’s mission and model, deep farmer and field intuition, and the ability to balance short-term and long-term objectives.

Skills and qualifications

  • At least 2 year’s work experience and prior team management experience, preferably one year in a developing country.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced social enterprise environment required.
  • French and English proficiency
  • A bachelor’s degree in an agriculture-related field or significant experience administering agriculture training
  • Creative and versatile approach to problem-solving; solutions driven
  • Detail-oriented and organised
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross culturally
  • At least 2 years of experience in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, product design or related field
  • Comfortable using CAD software for rapid prototyping & initial modeling, FEA analysis and production of final drawings for manufacturing (Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent experience in SolidWorks, OnShape, Fusion or Creo/PTC).

Desired qualifications

  • Experience with design for manufacturability; cost reduction
  • Experience with affordable design for low-resource environments
  • Deep experience with Human Centered Design principles and methods
